Hot Diggity Donuts  - 1213 Hull St. 5 minute walk.  Donut bar that also serves bagel sandwiches. $

Brewers Cafe 1125 Bainbridge St. Literally a block away! This friendly neighborhood coffee shop serves coffee drinks and sandwiches. Do be aware that they are not the fastest, so if it is busy, or you are short on time, you may wish to go somewhere else rather than miss a class waiting for your food. $

Subway 1200 Semmes Ave #10. A 5 to 10 minute walk from the venue. Cheap quick sandwiches. You know the drill. $

Pig & Brew, 1313 Hull St. A 5 minute walk from the venue. As the name suggests: barbecue & beer, plus fancy cocktails. $ - $$. (Also open for dinner)

Send a Chef  1303 Hull St. Diner with large menu a 5 minute walk from venue. Apparently, it is the "Home of the Ghetto Burger."

Plant Zero Cafe 3 E 3rd St. Roughly a 5 minute drive from the venue. Bright & airy daytime cafe with outdoor seating serving wraps, salads, pitas & specialty coffees. (Only open until 3pm on Saturdays. Closed Sundays.) $

You can also drive less than 2 miles up the road to the Virginia Commonwealth University campus area, which has tons of the usual fast casual food options, of which these are just a few:

Brewer's Waffles, 1311 Hull St, Richmond Va 23224. Brand new waffle & milkshake joint a 5 minute walk from the venue. Opens early and closes around midnight for all your waffle needs.

Buz & Ned's BBQ 1119 N Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23230. The other big player on the local BBQ scene. Let them duke it out in your belly. $

Can Can, 3120 W Cary St, Richmond, VA 23221. One of the coolest vintage-style dining rooms in Richmond! French brasserie in Carytown. Also open for breakfast (pastries & coffee). Reservations recommended for lunch and dinner. $$

Sub Rosa, 620 N. 25th St. Probably the best bakery in RVA with both sweet and savory pastries. Good coffee as well. Open until 5pm on weekends.  $

Sugar Shack Donuts. 1001 N Lombardy St, Richmond, VA 23220. Best donuts in town. An absolute must! $

Stoplight Gelato. 405 Brook Rd, Richmond, VA 23220. Locally owned gelato place in Jackson Ward. $

Temple, 2713 W. Broad Street. Laotian cuisine, kind of a cross between Thai and Malaysian. Nothing else like it in RVA. $$
